Sunny Koch grew from a family of artists in the Santa Cruz Mountains,
a place called Bonny Doon. After years studying various styles
and mediums, including an honors life drawing program at CCAC,
Cabrillo College, and Fashion Design at FIDM, she found herself
back in Bonny Doon. Here in her studio is where she began exploring
Collage and Assemblage. Inspired by the natural environment around
her, found and vintage objects, aged journals and scrapbooks. She uses
such objects as antique photographs, handmade papers, antique letters,
pressed botanicals, butterfly wings, antique trim, and rusted metal pieces.
Sunny has shown her work in Santa Cruz Open Studio, offers collage classes
a few times a year, illustrates for magazine articles, annual reports,
advertising, and event invitations. Sunny was awarded for an editorial
illustration entitled 'Discovering My Roots', by both American Illustration 21
and Blue Cube Arts. Sunny was also featured in the May/June 2004 issue of Somerset Studio Magazine.
